These were distinguished by the way they dressed and were associated with a rather negative attitude. Gradually the term spread like wildfire, both to the youth stereotype and to the artists of the<em> Beat<\/em> generation. The<em> Beats<\/em> and the <em>Beatniks<\/em> merged in the second half of the sixties, immersed in the countercultural movements.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While the term <em>Beat<\/em>, in local American slang, referred to culture and literature,<em> Beatnik<\/em> was used to stereotype <em>Beat<\/em> culture as it appeared in comic book characters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-21184 size-medium\" title=\"BEATNIK VINEYARD\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beatnikshoes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/beatnik.jpg\" alt=\"BEATNIK VINEYARD\" width=\"223\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beatnikshoes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/beatnik.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.beatnikshoes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/beatnik-278x373.jpg 278w, https:\/\/www.beatnikshoes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/beatnik-224x300.jpg 224w, https:\/\/www.beatnikshoes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/beatnik-380x509.jpg 380w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 223px) 100vw, 223px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Beat<\/em> thought was countercultural, anti-materialist, anti-capitalist and anti-authoritarian, in short, anti-system. The important thing was to improve one&#8217;s interiority beyond material possessions and the rules imposed by the system. They placed great importance on sexual freedom and drugs as a means of inner exploration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">  Some <em>Beat<\/em> writers focused their attention on Eastern religions, such as Buddhism and Taoism.
